September is National Preparedness Month—Join others in being disaster prepared, not scared!

National Preparedness Month is recognized each September to promote family and community disaster and emergency planning now and throughout the year. Many of us know the importance of having emergency supplies on hand, but have you thought about the family communications, financial protection, and community support aspects of disaster planning? These actions are critical for surviving and recovering from a catastrophic incident.

To support you in these activities, King County Emergency Management provides weekly #KingCountyReady preparedness tips on social media, and there’s lots of good information on the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s preparedness website—including information in multiple languages.
