Norse Peak Fire
The Norse Peak Fire has been zoned into two sections – North and South – with the Pacific Crest Trail serving as the dividing line. This decision was made to provide for more effective and coordinated fire management. Crews continue removing brush and felling standing dead trees that could ignite and compromise the containment efforts that have been successful in the area. Firefighters are patrolling developments for any spots that could be problematic for structures. Helicopters are providing water drops in the area to keep the fire in check, preventing an increase in fire growth. Stay informed:
Sawmill Creek Fire
Firefighters continue to improve roads and remove fuel around the fire, as well as build direct and indirect containment lines. The fire remains a threat to the watershed for the City of Tacoma, industrial timberland, DNR protected lands, and the United States Forest Service lands. Stay informed:
